| Shabkar: Prince Firm-in-Faith is recorded [probably in the Jatakamala] as saying: Listen to me, O king of flesh-devouring demons. All who kill animals and feed on their flesh will have their lives cut short, and most of them will go to hell. Others will slay and devour them in retaliation. For the karmic effect is similar to its cause. Listen to me, O king of flesh-devouring demons. Many there are who are brought to ruin by the evil company they keep.
